If you could have an exploded view of any M-mount rangefinder, which would it be?

I'm working on a project that will involve generation of exploded views of mechanical objects, i.e. the individual parts flying out from the center so you can see what the thing is made of. As I am rather a fan of rangefinders and this forum, I thought I'd post a poll asking which rangefinder you'd like to see exploded (in the schematic sense).

Your choice not listed? Let me know, even if it's not a rangefinder!

(since that's what I have, of course)

-and if you want to get really complicated. do all the different variants... There were a few different rangefinder assemblies, as well as the SS/DS advance, among other changes...That could really keep you busy though

You'll find that from M2 to M4/M4p/M4-2, they are very very similar.

The M3 has a slightly different RF than the M2~M4-2, but that's all.

The M6/MP will be different due to the meter.

The M7 will be very different due to the aperture priority electronically released shutter.

The M5 and CL will be very different again due to the swinging meter arm.

The M8 is dramatically different. A guy on the Leica Forum in Germany bought one and fully disassembled it, and photographed it. Very very shocking how complex it is.

For other suggestions, how about doing:

- Nikon F
- Canon F1
- Hasselblad 501cm
- Rolleiflex 2.8F
- Rolleiflex SL66SE
- Minox B

Have two such views: One for the first M model (the M3) and one for the current M model (M8). If the M8 is "too digital", take the M7.

When the M3 came out, it was so revolutionary that several exploded views were published. I have seen a couple. Perhaps a diligent search will bring up one or more.
