If you could have an exploded view of any M-mount rangefinder, which would it be?

The M3. The optics of the viewfinder is much more complex than the others. A diagram of the shutter is available from Erwin Puts.

The M2 is the real predecessor of the Leica M's that followed.

I'm with the M5 crowd. The rangefinder, viewfinder, shutter etc. are the same as any other M (well the viewfinder is slightly different because it has the meter display on top...), plus there's more to see because of the metering arm and meter assembly.
