"If you went back to film - what camera ?"

First, I still use film.

Second, it depends on the subject matter. If it is fast action or macro, I would use my 35mm Nikon F2 or F4. If it is a group shot, I will use my 6x7 or 6x9cm Fuji rangefinder.

Third, it depends on black & white or color. If it is black & white, I will use my 6x7 or 6x9cm medium format cameras. If it is 2x2 color slides, I will use my 35mm Nikon F2 or F4.

Fourth, it depends on the location. If I am shooting in a hostile environment, I will use my expendable Nikon N70 or Pentax Spotmatic.

As a fairly new amateur with on P&S digital experience, it's interesting to read threads like this. At the moment I am mostly enjoying the feel of the Pentax MX (as mentioned above, mirror slap aside, it's like a wristwatch with all its tiny clicks), and the ease of focusing compared to the rangefinders I have (I may get blackballed for this I realise!), but the prints coming back on MF are definitely the winners, even if an Ikonta is quite slow to use so doesn't suit my style that much.

I just recently got back into film when I started to scan some of my old negatives and realized what I was missing with my digital cameras. So I re-aquired a pristine Rollei 35 (y old one died some years ago and was not fit for repair) and also bought a Fuji GW 690. I´m really enjoying it.

If i were concerned with cost per image created, then Olymus OM1 or OM2sp. If I didn't mind fewer shots per roll, then Pentax 6X7 or its later incarnations.

I just diid it a few months ago.
And it was an M2, my first rangefinder.
Before moving to digital, my camer was a Nikon FM.

last week I sold my last Canon EF lens, leaving my gear in only-analog status.
Leica M3, M6 and Mamiya 7.

... I wouldn't be able to respond to this without a glass of something in my hand, and only then because perhaps the girl (or guy, or whatever) sitting next to you is hot.

...and the ever-present smartphone of course.

I still much prefer (and use) film cameras. Last I use Rolleiflex TLR and Canon T90.

I've continued to shoot film, and digital only occasionally. My core film cams are an M2, a IIIc, and a Rolleiflex, but I'm also enjoying a Bessa R2A these days as well (a poor man's M7).

M7 or MP is money don't matter.
Any Nikon SLR (FE, FE2, FM, FM2, F3) with AI-S lenses if you are on a budget.

I still shoot film exclusively. However, if I could have only one camera it would be a Canon A-1 because of my extensive FD type lens collection (14 to 600mm). If I could have a second camera for autofocus it would be a Canon Kiss IIIL. Nobody has heard of this one, but it has panorama mode and a lighted display screen (when you need it you need it). And for a rangefinder a Canon 7S.

Canon has some great glass.
I started at the ef line. Prior to that it was contax/yashica for reflex with Zeiss lenses.

I'm currently embracing autofocus and, love the normals and short teles canon offers for ef bodies.
I'm using an RT and 630. Early simple bodies with 1.8/50 metal mount and f2/100 usm.
Pretty humble and yet excellent and full of character. 🙂

As a father of 6 and 1 year olds there is not enough time for the complete film cycle.
This means that exposed film sits for months and months and months before developing which p.o. my wife.
Consequently the Sony NEX7+SEL 55/1.8 or 24/2.8 gets most use.

That said, my fav film combo is Canon P + 50mm/1.4 or Olympus 35RC for C41 and Yashica 35CC for B&W and Pentax P30T + SMC 55/1.8 for E6.

I did go back to film, but not completely.
Digital is for "perfection" and the quick result.
Film is for "character" and the "soul". 😉

I went to film on the paths cleared by my favourite digital cams (Leica, Nikon, Fuji).
Thus my list (cam + 3 lenses) reads like this:

AF-SLR:
Nikon F90x + Sigma 12-24 + Nikkor 24-120 + Nikkor 1.8/85D

MF-SLR:
Nikon F3 + Nikkor 1.4/35 + Nikkor 1.2/55 + Nikkor 2.5/105 (or 1.8/85)

RF:
Leica M6 + Voigtländer 2.0/28 + Leica Summicron 2.0/50 + Summicron 2.0/90

Medium Format:
Fuji GW690

Pulled out an old Canon A-1 someone gave to me a few years ago, and mated it with a 50mm f1.8 S.C. breech lock lens from my first real camera I bought back in 1976. It's my new go-to fun film camera and really quite a joy to shoot with.
