If you were given $12k to spend on photography aka the GAS thread

Assuming travel is cheating...

I have a OM-D and 45/1.8
Panaleica 25 - $620
Oly 12/2 - $800

$10580 left

D800E - $3200
24/1.4 - $2000
35/1.4 - $2000
50/1.4 - $500
85/1.8 - $800ish?

$2080 left

Even better tripod/ballhead combo - $1k
$1k on various and sundry things

Tempting to just drop it on a M9M and a couple of Zeiss lenses instead of the D800E kit.

If 12K drops from the sky:
MM monochrom=$7,950.
50mm summilux=$3,995.
2 Lexar 16GB sdhc=$51.95

TOTAL..................$11,996.95
with the $3.05 left over I could get one Lone Star beer at the local watering hole for $2.00 leaving me $1.05 left over so I guess if the bartender was nice a tip of $1.05.
!2K all gone, so, I could walk the photo rich neighborhood for a few thousand photos, an be one happy guy.
:D

Monochrom-M and 35 Cron ASPH. For some reason, I can't shake the intrigue of shooting only bw on digital. I know I could convert with an M8/M9, but being limited (or unlimited) to just bw has got me very very interested.

Yep, what he said

New studio lights (Profoto D1 Air monolights 3x1000)
~6k

Portable Strobe set (Elinchrome Ranger Quadra)
~2k

17mm TSE and 24mm TSE
~4k

I could not justify that kind of money spent on personal photography. If it were a gift and I HAD to spend it on fun photos and not work photos, I'd probably go the route of others here and spend the bulk on travel. I suppose I'd buy back my Rolleiflex E 2.8 Planar again... or maybe see if I could find a used Imacon scanner.

Would move into Medium Format! Getting of a "minty" :D Hassy from eBay, and then backs, lenses, a capable enlarger, a MF film scanner, plus lots of 120 film, paper, chemicals, etc... would quickly do away with the $12K. If not, I'd throw in a Pentax 67, as well.

About $175 for Chris Sherlock to fix my Retina II (Missing a spring and needs a good CLA), $100 for a Repop WWII USGI Musette Bag, about $2000 worth of Plus-X and Tri-X.

The rest I spend on traveling the globe with the Retina and My Kiev II.

Travel for projects and inspiration.

Lots of prints and framing.

Marketing to reach the next level of clients.

Professional web site production.

Oh, and a couple of primes from the recently announced Fuji XF road map.

I've got just about enough kit to last me a lifetime, but never find enough time to use it.

I'd buy a couple hundred rolls of Tri-X or Delta 400, set aside some money to have a lab develop them as I go along, then use whatever money is left over to take care of my mortgage payments and other living costs until the money run out.

I guess I'd get at least three months of shooting out of it. I'd spend a little time to set myself a project or two before I got started.

Is $12k enough to buy some inspiration and talent? That's all I lack! :)

OK, if it's not I'll just take the Noctilux, and fake it. :D

Pay someone to scan, organize, process , and print my negatives , chromes, and exposed film, sell all my camera gear, and leave me with my x100, MP and my crons'
