Thanks for taking part in our recent survey. It was a great help and has confirmed our darkroom sharing concept has enough support for us to go ahead and make the investment in the new website.

In due course we will be announcing that our worldwide darkroom website is ready to launch. In the meantime we need your help in finding all those community and public darkrooms. It's our intention to get these darkrooms listed on the site before the public launch and to give them special status that recognises the outstanding support they give. If you know of any please ask them to get in touch through news@harmantechnology.com

We also want to locate all those tutors who offer courses in darkroom technique. We are not looking for full time courses in colleges, just those specialist printers/photographers who offer the many and varied short courses in darkroom techniques.

I took the survey. It looks interesting to me. I made it one of my goals this year to do some kind of dark room printing.

I wish Kodak had made more of a commitment to traditional photography. They went after the money in a new market and it cost them dearly. (The same market that is now using smart phones for all their photography needs. Convenient and looks good on a computer/small screen.)

Why harman I didn't hear you ask: The company was founded in 1879 by Alfred Hugh Harman as the Britannia Works Company. Initially making photographic plates.
 
More people should see what their work looks like when it's been optically printed. It takes time to learn but is surely worth it. I am so glad to see Ilford is doing well and will continue to do my part to support them by sending them as much of my money as I can afford via B&H Photo in New York. They make using film and chemistry at home about as easy and consistent as it can be, allowing us the latitude to produce the best work that we are able to produce.
 
I participated in the survey.
The survey asked if I would let anyone use my darkroom.

To which I wanted to answer "Of course, but not in its current condition as a night only facility in the corner of my garage"

Those of you who has a more permanent setup than mine ought to contact Ilford to support this.
 
Fantastic initiative, (speaking as someone who's never set foot in a darkroom) it's great to see this kind of thing, and hopefully I'll get to rectify that glaring omission in my experience
 
Ilford have my admiration and support for anything they do in the light of Fuji's dumping of various emulsions and Kodak's corporate woes.

There's a chance I may be moving house in a year to a place where I may have the space for a small darkroom ... wet printing is in my future, just not sure when! :)
 
Okay, the survey was one thing, now Simon Galley of Ilford is asking us to pass on information about any community / public darkrooms that we are aware of, so they can build an actual database.
So everybody, if you know of any such a place, please contact Ilford under news@harmantechnology.com
and let them know!

I just sent you a PM if you could spread the gospel regarding this initiative at the German APHOG forum? Unfortunately I am not a member there and cannot contribute...
I am just doing some inquiry in my local area to find out any remaining public access dark rooms that should be in the database to come.

Where is the survey? I do not do Facebook it it's there.

How do you register for the website. I can't find anywhere to register like the FAQ says to.

Survey is colosed. Here are the result that sent from Ilford:

"We asked you and 15,000 other ILFORD PHOTO followers to help us with an online survey about how you used our products and in less than a day 1,706 photographers had taken our survey. The summary below gave us the confirmation we were seeking and work started on the new website;

35% had no access to a darkroom but were using B&W film
65% did have darkroom access with some using community or work based facilities, but the majority had a private darkroom
Most were prolific film users with 69% shooting film weekly
We asked the 35% without a darkroom would they like local access and 78% said yes with 32% also wanting some basic training as well
In a second survey, which 1300 people took, we asked private darkroom owners would they be willing to share their darkroom with others who they had the opportunity to vet, we had a very encouraging 56% willing to share their darkrooms."
