Mac - I have a III-c/f BD / ST, 1949 body, not sure when the conversion was done... chrome is beautiful. Picked it up in Copenhagen on a trip to Denmark in 2014.
Will have to dig it out to find s/n.
After taking a closer look at the photos, it looks like the top was sand blasted, and re-chromed. There is also a bit of flaking between the shutter button, and the A-R lever.
I'm also looking at a G model that is losing its covering. I can always gaffer tape it.

Mac - just exhumed my c/f BD ST.
s/n 44394x.
I think it has the original -c top plate. For the flash sync, a little sync scale plate was added underneath the shutter speed dial, with two little slotted-head screws adjacent the accessory shoe. Still reads: "Leica / D.R.P. / Ernst Leitz / Wetzlar / Germany"
Bottom-plate has 3/8 tripod socket, with a 1/4" bushing, bottom plate lock with tail, "open-auf" / "close-zu".
Chrome is excellent ( aside from some rubs ).

The IIIC/F BD is from 1946, frank, just fifty numbers into the batch run. I've come across a true IIIF RD that looks better, and is from the '52-53 batch. That will likely happen before a IIIG, what with my budget.

That might be dodgy, both for the Chrome and the curtains...
-g's have been out of reach for me... I keep hoping I will run across a lucky bargain someday...

Thanks All
Here are a couple from the second short roll, the first roll i had an issue with the Pyrocat HD, not sure what happened, so I shot a second roll of Kentmere 100 developed in HC110, a little grainy I used Dil. B at 72 degrees
Pretty happy everything seems to work and the "new" Elmar 5cm 2.8 did good.

Damn, I sold a iiig for $400, to China, and buyer claimed he never got it... Looking at this thread, I'm full of regret

Are you saying you regret for selling it for $400 or because you took a chance to send it to a country that leaves a lot of unknowns and no chance to really find out why it was not received? I have ordered cameras from Japan and Hong Kong and they always came in to me.

Everything looks fine, Don. The Elmar is so good for such a simple lens.

At this point, both
I have no problem with buying or selling to Japan, but I've had a real bad track record with China, and accounts registered in China (between someone claiming their camera got heavily brassed in transit (sold a iiif, owner shows me a pic of a heavily brassed iiic and tried to claim damage), and abnormally high bids from people with bogus feedback history (lots of buying the same $0.01 item over and over again), I'm done)
Also reminds me that I should CLA my IIIg and 2.8 elmar
