ok at a whim i got a roll of ilford 3200....i have never shot and film at that speed, but the ability to shoot at low light levels without a flash appeals to me (and yes a know about the graininess)...im excited to use however my lightmeter only goes up to 1600!!! can i shoot at 1600? or do i have to calculate some exposure readings myself

Cheers

You can shoot 3200 at 1600 easily - or you can simply adjust your shooting to match the film speed difference. If your meter only goes to 1600, and you have 3200 speed film in there, simply underexpose by 1 stop....someone correct me if I am wrong here.

OR, you can just shoot it as a 1600ISO film (by setting your film speed dial to 1600) and tell the lab that you did so. I always shoot at 1600 because the RF645 (camera in my avatar), will not go above 1600. No problems. Here is a link to a shot taken on Delta 3200@1600 and processed at a lab in D76:

Delta 3200 is a very nice film. I've passed several rolls through my Bronica RF645. Grain is pretty tight for an 8x10 print. I develop in 1:9 DD-X @ 68 deg for 16 minutes. I'm still tweaking the time, though, and may try 18 min.
