Just to say this is about the company that make the galleria inkjet paper, not film or darkroom products which is a completely different company.

Yes, the ILFORD Imaging Switzerland GmbH is bankrupt, not the film manufacturer which is called ILFORD PHOTO and is located in England.

Yep, Thom Hogan had the same thing to say, not the film company, which is Harman(?), just the paper company.

Correct. The company Harman Technologies (England) produces Ilford brand film, paper and chemicals. The company Ilford in Switzerland produces Galerie brand digital printing paper (it is some of the best paper available.) Ilford Switzerland also makes (made?) Ilfochrome color darkroom materials.

Confusing? Yep.

This bit made me breathe a sigh of relief:

Ilford Imaging Switzerland GmbH, which makes 'Galerie' photo inkjet paper, is totally separate from Ilford Photo which is based in the UK and is unaffected. Ilford Photo is the trading name of Cheshire-based Harman Technology Ltd which makes traditional b&w photographic papers and film. Harman Technology says it is in 'excellent financial health' and is not commercially connected to Ilford Imaging Switzerland.

So, people are not printing digitally enough?
I don't recall they have too many competitors.

What are the "pros" print on with these days?

I love the Ilford Gallerie Gold Fibre Silk, which is made by the Swiss company. It is incredible paper for black and white inkjet prints. I'm very concerned about the company's health. I cannot think of anything that would replace it.

I agree ... that's a great paper.

Thanks for the clarification guys - my apologies on posting and causing a big hub bub on this. . .

I couldn't determine that information on the quick glance I took so my bad 😱

Cheers,
Dave

I like that paper as well. I saw a recommendation by Ctein on TOP not too long ago for Canson Baryta, might be worth a try if (swiss) Ilford does disappear.

Does anyone have experience with it?

Anyway, hopefully Ilford will just go through bankruptcy and reemerge intact on the other side.

Yes--Canson Baryta Photographique 310g/m2

I honestly can't really consistently tell the difference between the same files printed on it and on the Gold Fibre Silk, except that the Canson prints may have a tiny bit less gloss differential. In 13x19 size, the 25 sheet box comes with an outer, corrugated box, so no more bent corners. It will probably become my standard [maybe already has, due to shortages earlier this year with the Ilford paper].
