i'm a digital guy now...

i sit corrected, it IS zoombrowser.

i have photoshop 7 and have slowing been doing the self teaching/learning thing with it. my plan is to continue using it. would this breezebowser add anything to that experience?

Joe, Breezebrowser is a utility -- it doesn't replace Photoshop but it does a lot of stuff that's convenient/neat. I've been a Breezebrowser user for three years and, by coincidence, upgraded this morning to Breezebrowser Pro.

You can look at the feature list and download a 15-day free trial here: http://www.breezesys.com/

Get your card reader first, then see if BB appeals. It does raw conversion, batch file renaming, excellent HTML presentations, etc. etc. Gives you a quick and easy way to view your latest batch of shots and delete the ones you don't want. Very fast -- it's a program I use almost daily.

thanks gene.
i think i will definitely go th card reader route.
i have downloaded the driver from the canon site and it still won't work. it says plug in the usb and it will complete the installation but nothing happens.
i uninstalled the software too.

i'm in no hurry, i'll check out readers on the weekend and then i'll be ready to R&R.

Joe,

I gotta tell ya, even though I use a Mac which is VERY easy to install new hardware on, a card reader was the best investment I made in digital. It's a lot faster and more convenient to use than directly downloading from the camera, plus it saves wear and tear on my batteries.

And yes, you WILL chimp in the beginning... everybody does at first. Just try to be dignified about it, will ya? :)

doug, i'll do my best.
i have been reading about readers a bit tonite.
they vary in price. it seems the dedicated readers are cheapest and the ones that will read various types of cards are more money. some are smaller and some are larger.
ah, decisions...

After my wife got her Nikon Coolpix 990 a few years ago, it didn't take her long to get a card reader. The camera-to-computer connection is really really slow.

I even use the card reader to PUT edited images from the computer onto a CF card to take to the kiosk at the local lab for printing.

Anyone in the RFF group caught, seen or suspected of "Chimping" will be given a 30 suspension from the group. A second offense is cause for dismissal from this or any other film based group!

This is my second post to this forum. Interesting that the author of this thread is migrating to digital with a G2. I mostly use a Canon G3 nowadays and am migrating back to Canon rangefinders. Welcome to you - to the digital club. Welcome to me - for rediscovering the joys of vintage rangefinder photography. :)

welcome to our little rf peice of heaven.

yes, i am playing around with the g2 but i doubt that digital will ever take over from film, for me that is.
i love my canon rangefinders and the g2 feels nothing like them in my hand.

it's a different experience.
