Canon LTM I'm about to purchase a canon canonet 28. Need advice.......

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Thanks for offering up your 28 Pherdinand. But yeah.... i can't do anything with a missing top plate. Shall i be asking for offers for a Canonet GIII QL17 or a Yashica Electro 35 GSN at the buy and sell section?

Yep, you should. Or anything similar. There are also Minolta's, Konica's, Olympussies :D in the same category. Just make sure they understand that you want a working one.

So many choices..... no wonder GAS is a major symptom for rangefinder shooters.! would you think that 40 USD would be too low a price for those 2 camera models i mentioned earlier? I kind of like those 2. :p

PRESENTLY means nothing. Last seconds the bids go high usually. But you might get lucky.

I got my GSN from Jon Goodman for 30$ + shipping 16$. It was a good deal, new seals, all working - although the infamous Pad broke after some time, i replaced it and it's fine now. 40$ is a reasonable amount for a good GSN, maybe for a canonet too.

Also, check this: "WITH THAT SAID I AM SELLING AS IS WITH MONEY BACK GUARANTY IF NOT AS DESCRIBED" he says. And he also says he does not know much about it and can't test it, so if it's not cosmetically ugly, it will always be "as described".
Then, you get alot of accessories which drive the price up but are in my view useless, like the extension lenses. They are difficult to use, focusing, framing is complicated, and so on.
If it goes for 30-40 $ might be okay but don't get into a bidding war on this. I still say wait for one on the forum here.

Folks like the both of you are a godsend! I shall sit tight and wait for an offer on this forum. And try to ignore the bid for that electro. After i have my cash in hand tomorrow, i shall put up my want to buy!!

With all the extras, it will weigh about 7-8 lbs. G.E.M. shipping to Singapore would be about $42.00USD. :(

The weight! Right. That's just for the shipping cost. I really don't require all those extras. Just need a working camera and a camera cap. Don't even need a box or camera cover. Instruction manual would be nice though. :)

Greyhoundman, i see you have been following my little misadventure. :)

The virtues of waiting for the right camera and a resonable price. Must be patient..... be patient..... I'm just glad to be getting my cash back. Now, if there are any kind souls out there who wish to have their GSN's and GIII's put to good use. Don't look any further!

hey bro,
i have acanon ql17 g3, now thats the way to go. unless you save up for a canon7 w/a 50mm1.2 or f1.4 then your in the pro realm of canon rangefinders and i do stand by the 100%. you can also use voigtlander lenses on canon 7.
good luck with your choice.

I've got my cash back!

And surprisingly, the seller also offered me to keep the camera including the cash. But i did not accept it, i did not want any consequences to come out in the future. I guess he felt too that it would be expensive to do a thorough clean of the camera.

Now, let's put that behind and move forward to a better camera! :D

Street-fighter, yes, a canon ql17 g3 would be a better choice. It has a choice of it being fully manual too which would be a good way to learn the fundamentals.

Pherdinand, i know that acccepting the 28 from that guy would be a good complement to your 28. And your 28 would be able to come alive again. But i felt it would be better to just let leave the camera back with the seller.

Any canon ql17 g3 for sale anyone?

Terence has a Bessa R and Color Skopar 35mm/2.5 for sale at a very cheap price!

I agree on that, 100%. I would have done the same. Good luck with your quest:)

And don't worry about my canonet28 - it's good to have it for spare parts:)

I know this is the wrong thread to post this. But just wanted to end this thread on a happy note. I've bought a Yashica 5000E from this forum.

Everyone, Thank You for the sympathy and understanding that has been shown. ;)
