Mind you ... nice to know that I can always get $50.00 for one of my dirty old Leicas when I'm down and out! :rolleyes:

I can envision all sorts of dumb scenarios about why this ad was posted. But I think I agree with William:
"Dude, I spent the $ my folks gave me for school on all this killer weed...cough, cough...Now my dad wants me to show him what I bought..."
Or, maybe this person is on to something; I admit to looking around at garage sales/junk stores hoping to find similar deals..."$25 for this Leica? Hmmm, film's getting hard to find, would you take $22.50?":D Hasn't happened yet and I don't really expect it to but I still keep looking.

you would be surprised. They are just old cameras to some people and don't have any value. If you have no idea what an item is worth and someone offering 50 bucks for Dad's old camera that is gathering dust on the closet shelf it may sound like a deal. After all how uses film cameras anymore right.
 
The guy who placed this ad is not nuts. We are the ones who are nuts. I just sold him my M6 for $25 and I'm feeling good. Oh yeah I threw in a 50mm f1.4 mint with it.:eek::eek:

There's no photo class, he just wants people to think he's a student and not a camera dealer looking to rip off unknowledgable folks.
 
Not so low cost, but extremely good cost/value ratios I have gotten:

A beater Contax IIIa body, with as-new 21mm Biogon, 35mm Post war Boigon and beater 440 finder for $200.

An almost perfect Contarex Super Electronic with 55/1.4 Planar for $150.

A NOS Rollei 35S for $100.
