It seems like I have got multicolored goggles on these days, I only see color and i want to shoot for color... And horror of horrors I'm enjoying it. Some of the color work in this site is also not helping, especially Mister_E's photos from central Asia.
Please save my soul from the wiles of color photography and its superficial charm. After all without light there is no color, color is an illusion... so i say to myself.

Go for it. We see in color, use it. There will still probably some things you will want to do in b/w. Don't despair.
I don't understand why anyone wouldn't use both color and B&W... use what works for a given photo.

I feel if i start shooting for color, i'll be lost in a colorful maze and i will lose my way. had i been interested in color from the beginning that would be fine but i have always been in love with b&w, and it was b&w photos that got me into photography.
maybe, its a just a phase but i hope i get back my b&w mojo soon enough.

Black and white was my first love but at this point in my life I shoot more color.
However, I _never_ go out shooting without two cameras so I can shoot both depending on what I find.
I say, embrace it!

World is not a colorful and beautiful place. the light is not always defused and beautiful or bright and vibrant, the sky is not always blue and so on...
So, if i get into color, it would mean I would have to change my worldview. So, yeah, this is important for me.
i would love to know if others have experienced similar dilemma.

I am always torn between B&W and Color, but usually B&W wins. Tri-X and I were born of the same mother.

Indeed the colors sometimes draw us in. Was taking a walk Friday evening, trying to snap a few B&W frames, but the color kept pulling at me making it harder to see the tones...
If you need an outlet, there are always the W/NW color threads (Yellow, Blue, etc.)

I welcome the "distraction" of colors once in a while
It helped me to appreciate B&W afresh after the excursion.
And I agree that some subjects/scene will only work in color.

What's wrong with color ? Go for it ! Get sucked into it. That's the whole idea of packing a camera - to do something what drives you. World could be ugly in color too.World is not a colorful and beautiful place. the light is not always defused and beautiful or bright and vibrant, the sky is not always blue and so on...

I don't see anything wrong with it either. If this is the phase you are in now, I saw embrace it and go for it. I, too, am in this phase.
Granted, not everything works in colour, but the same could be said about black and white work.

ebino - I think you actually caused some of my own recent corruption.
Recently in a thread you mentioned the photographer Alex Webb. I hadn't seen his work, so took a look and Wow!
There was a particular color image I saw and just loved, called "Bar in Grenada", 1979. There's a view of the image HERE.
Drool!
Viewing Webb's work prompted me to pull out Harold Mante's book "The Photograph: Composition and Color Design".
Seriously, I'm not ready for color yet.
Hmmm, there's another Mante book around here called "Photography Unplugged", think I'll rummage for that and enjoy some color this morning...

What can I say, my corruption is complete and it seems like I have dragged ederek into it as well...

I think, the key word is what drives one to photograph a certain way. so if its color for me now, why resist.

Yup, it is a phase and I'm enjoying it. photography is not always fun and games, sometimes those dull periods could be really depressing, so any new enthusiasm is good.
