After reading the recent discussions on not having enough people take the Gallery part of the RFF seriuosly in their RFF frequenting, I decided to populate my Gallery and to start crtitiqueing some posted photos in the Gallery.

I will try to upload regularly new photos as they become available to me. I have been posting photos within threads but not within the Gallery, and I will try to balance between these two outlets in the RFF.

Please feel free to visit my RFF Gallery and feel free to state your positive and negative critiques as you see them applicable to any particular photo.

I think, the Gallery offers us a way to communicate with many people in the RFF through the posted images. It is a one-on-one communication, compared to posting comments on photos within a thread.

This is all I have folks.

Hey Raid, that's great.

I used to be a big poster to The Gallery but then I once opined here that I thought it was a really important part of RFF and nearly had my head removed from the site. 😱

Maybe I'll get back into The Gallery at some point - but nowadays I find the W/NW threads to be more fun. 😀

I still don't know what is reason for such strong negative feelings about the RFF Gallery.

Raid,

Three thoughts come immediately to mind about this.

One - I am very glad that I was in PS class last night and managed to avoid the "balance" thread.

Two - I am very glad that I learned about the "Ignore" function here a couple of months ago.

Three - I am very glad I still have both of my eyes - one with which to post to The Gallery and one with which to view the posts of others to The Gallery.

Perhaps one day I'll feel good as a photographer that I don't have to worry about losing my eyes because I posted pictures on a photography website!

George:

Is the problem at the Gallery that people cannot comment at ease on photos or is the problem to post images and then receive nasty and arrogant snubs? Or is there a different type of problem? I have been ignoring the Gallery because I was busy, so I don't know what I should now expect.

Regards,
Raid

Raid,

I never had anyone get real nasty on a Gallery post. Although, come to think of it, there was one member who felt it necessary to "warn" me that another member would likely object to the fact I'd used PS to "heal" some "lab scabs".

I was warned that an opinionated member has a real downer attitude about PS'ing - even if it was just to "band aid" out the scratches and stuff.

BTW: he still posts here so you might beware the "purist".

Other than that - I just lost interest after the negative reaction I got to suggesting that I thought pic posting to The Gallery was a key purpose of the site. As they used to say on Wall Street: "Don't fight the tape!"

So since then I've just gravitated to the W/NW threads. More benign and you get to see some great shots like we did earlier tonight from Peter.

Raid- From what I've seen of your gallery I think you going to enjoy having your work displayed.

I took a quick look and I really enjoy the rich color and composition.

Hmm, I've really never seen negative comments in the gallery. At worst, some constructive criticism that a sensitive person might misconstrue, but that's rare. Due to the sheer volume, many photos get few views and no comments, but I think the really good ones do have a way of getting noticed.

I think (<-NB) that the gallery is an important part of the site and I really enjoy posting and commenting there. Others don't feel the same way.

I agree with Nick R. , I posted some photos and received both good comments and polite critics (as a beginner, critics and suggestion are what I need and look for posting my shots in the gallery).
I think it's interesting to see how other people consider my shots.

My personal rules is each time I visit this forun to visit the gallery as well and leave at least one comment on a photo which gives me any kind of emotion. Maybe is a special technique, maybe the way to frame or the colour combinatio. I try to explain what I feel from a certain image.

I am relatively new to the gallery, but I am seeing some excellent work there. Not every photo is to my taste, but we all have different tastes, and giving constructive comments can be very supportive.

Good idea Raid. The most important thing it is the diffusion of one idea, picture... The photographic process finishes in the eyes of the spectator. Put the photos in a drawer that nobody sees them is not photography.

Beniliam,

I agree with you on this conlcusion. Feedback is part of the process. Sometimes, I find that only one person shares my love for a photo and many others don't, but this one support makes the difference.

Greetings,

I have added some photos of my family this morning. I found it difficult to switch from being a nature photographer to being inside our home and take photos of indants. Once the two girls grew a little older, I was able to relax more with photos taken outdoors.
