Hi all, once again I have been smitten by the Russian charm, the Fed 2 is as everyone here says (well, most of you anyways), a compentent shooter.

My vote: It's one of the best values for the money!

... and my wife just shakes her head ... 😀

Anyways, if you're at all curious, feel free to read a mini review of a Fed 2 by yours truly.

I have a Fed 2 c from Oleg which i love , but have had to send a restored Fed 2 b back to the supplier 'cos the rewind stuck !
Really Fed up with that one !

Have fun with it .

Great review ... I looove my blue Fed 2. It even has it's own Zhou case now ... and Gordy Strap.

My god it's spoilt! 😛

Good review of the FED 2. Like Keith stated I love mine too. And the good thing about them is that you can carry one into the seedy side of town and no one want's to steal it because there is no window in the back of it.😉

Glad y'all enjoy it!

I like it, if I ever get to the point where only a few cameras remains, I have a feeling that the Fed would still be there.

"... the level of amazement corresponds directly to the distance between low expectation and high quality ..."

Exactly that!! Well said!

I sold my Fed 2 a while ago and am still regretting it. I'm getting that urge to buy. Can't .......resist.............

My mind was pretty much made up, but this makes it final. If I get another RF camera to go with my Zorki 1C and use its lenses, it will be a FED 2.

Hi Keith,

I always think Fed 2 is THE most beautiful rangefinder camera of all time. My 2nd Soviet camera is a mint blue Fed 2. The 1st one is a minty 1965 Kiev 4.😀

Are we equating them to the cockroach of the camera world. Long after nueclear holocaust, the bugs will have a bunch of nice FED 2s to document their evolution.😀

LOL! except FED 2s don't move around, smells "antique", and takes really good pictures 🙂

Say, are there any LTM Zeiss T* lenses that I can use with the FED 2?

The thing that amazes me .... in spite of all our talking the Fed up ... it remains an eBay bargain. You can do a search any time and find at least a couple for less than $20.00 BIN. Or you can go to someone reputable like Oleg and still pay very little for a great camera that has been CLA'd by someone who really knows them!

Actually I think I can feel another Fed coming on ... maybe a black one this time! 😛

Hi all,
Youxin Ye in Canton, MA near Boston, says these are rugged, fairly simple cameras. With the support of our DIY posts, the R/F can be aligned... even a CLA can be done by someone handy with tools.

The book "Leica Camera Repair Handbook"... includes LTM copies, and ring wrenches and good screwdrivers can be bought at:

www.micro-tools.com

I paid a bit more than $20- for the Fed-2c bought just yesterday, and the Seller assured me via SMS to my mobile phone, that my purchase was "Cool."
Cheers, Mike
