Hi-

I'm looking to buy a gift and can't seem to find a source. It has to be a Canon QL17 GIII in black, not chrome. I've searched everywhere, and googled it and can't come up with one. Also, should I find one, what can I expect to pay? I've had quess thatrange from 70 to 300 dollars!!

Thanks in advance for any leads or info.

Welcome to RFF!!!

Unfortunately they don't turn up for sale all that often & when you do see them on places like ebay they are often in questionable/unkown working condition. Even still they often sell for an unbeleivable amount of $$$ compared to the chrome ones! Recently a member here bought one from ebay for a reasonable price, so my advice is patience unless you have money to burn & one shows up. If that is the case make sure you get a guarantee about the working condition. Pretty cosmetics don't always reflect the internal condition of the camera!

Good luck!

Peter

I just got one on the Bay.

I was watching a few of them. There's one that seems to pop up frequently with an initial bid of like $199 and buy it now for $250. It does not seem to sell. Let me find it and you can contact the seller if you want.

Edit: Here ya go:

Ended last week, no bids (surprise, surprise). He/she has 2 chrome ones currently. Maybe he/she will relist it if you want.

Thanks you, all.

jja, I dropped igor an email asking about the camera.

Peter - while I don't have $$ to burn, I'm trying to get it before middle of January for a gift, so I'm running out of time. I will keep looking. I should never have lent my chrome version out! If I do it again I'll be buying them by the case to distribute to friends...

dmr - I just saw that one. it's in only fair shape cosmetically, and the seller is pretty firm with wanting $250 or so.

Black Canon QL17

There is a Black QL17 now on e-bay # 290063041557 for $210.00
I think that seller may have another one not listed.:)

Hi Jim,

I just replied to your email. Yes, I have one in black that I would be willing to sell.

randy is a known member here and we have done business before, i would trust his gear.
but in truth, to pay over 200 bucks for a $40 camera is not something i would do.

Just wanted to say thanks to backalley, greyhoundman and pesphoto for vouching for me! This place is the best.

Hi,
It is interesting that in your post here, http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=378338#post378338 you give your email address.
As this happens to be the email address of the eBay seller you point to, I would rather suspect that you know very well what you have in stock.

Hello Kim Coxton
Thanks for all the Publicity....Yes, I sell Quality Canon QL17 Cameras on E-bay, 100-200 per year and have a 99.7% feedback rating....pretty darn good for over 1100 transactions.
I have sold you Kim Coxton, camera manuals that you have on your site and also camera parts....I have also sold camera parts to Grehoundman.
I sell on E-bay....Hink2u and yes, I have 2 black QL17 GIII cameras for sale.
Some of your members think that to pay over $40.00 for a black QL17 is absurd, but in reality, a good black QL17 GIII camera will sell for $200-300 and will be selling for more as time passes.

Thanks again for all the Publicity......Hink2u......Winklee98

Hi,
Indeed, shortly after I re-discovered RF photography a few years ago I obtained several Canonets icluding some pre GIII models. I got the manual for the GIII from the Favorite Cassics Site but wanted one for the "new" model which I purchased from you. Most of the cameras needed "attention" and I received a great deal of free help and advice on the The Classic Camera Repair Forum most notably from Jon Goodman prior to finding RFF. In the course of that I was looking for a good condition baseplate and you offered me one which I bought. I haven't been back since.

I gained some small expertise in restoring the Canonets and subsequently, you contacted me on a couple of occasions asking advice on certain aspects of fixing them. As I remember, I sent scans of the repair manual and I have no doubt that you have since downloaded the full verion from my website for free. ;)
