... to visit family in Queensland, for a wedding and a Christening. With a bit of luck I'll even have time to take a few photos.

Catch you all late next week. Cheers!

From now I shall refer to the "Canon P" as the "Canon VI-L2". If Canon only knew the jokes that would prevail over the next 50 years. No one ever jokes about a Leica mP or a Nikon sP. "What did the Nikon S leave in the corner? an SP." Nope. No one ever said that about the coolest camera of all time. Just pick on the Canon VI-L2.

Chris, get some good pictures with the VI-L2.

Yes, our beloved moderator would never allow Canon VI-L2 jokes.

"I'm off" is often short for "I'm off my Rocker", denoting loss of sanity.

Such as "I'm off, and bought another Nikon RF".

Of course I never thought of applying that to Chris, a well-respected and "Canon'd" member of RFF.

You're getting christened and married at the same time? One stop shopping?

What about the circumcision?

...I hope you don't plan that just before the honeymoon 😀 😀 😀 😀

Why not?!! We went to our son's wedding to meet our new grandchild - no bris though!

Enjoy your banana bending wedding - I'll be back in Melbourne next week if they let Sandgroper's in.

To me (a Brit) "I'm off!" means "I'm outta here!" in American. 🙂

I understood the same thing -- Imagine my confusion, then: I live in the U.S., learned how to speak English in the U.S., but I learned Brittish English. My girlfriend accuses me of being "too literal". I have been able to spell "color" without much thought, but I still can't bring myself to write other words without the "u".

It's simply one of the paradoxes of English as a "universal" Internet language: it depends on what side of the globe you are what certain words mean, given their context.

OT: enjoy your trip, Chris!

The best was a Russian bloke who learned his Brit English in Russia. When he came over here and was introduced to me he stuck his hand out and said "how do you do?". "Wotcher mate!" I replied to his utter confusion... 😀
