I'm ready to order a Leica m8.2 and Nokton 35mm f/1.4 Classic MC! Serious questions..

Hmmmm... I did not know of this backfocus issue with the 35mm 1.4 MC

Does the Nokton 40mm f/1.4 MC Classic have the same backfocusing issues? The images I've seen with this lens look slightly better than the more expensive 35mm 1.4 MC, but the focal length might be slightly less useful on 1.33x crop.
 
the 35/1.4 nokt i had briefly was fine on my M8. of the several 35s that i've tried on the M8 (m-hex, uc-hex, cron v4, zm, summaron, canon f2.8), only the summaron caused problems. the best of the group from a field curvature point of view was the cron v4. i could be happy with any but the summaron on my M8, but kept the zeiss for consistency as my other lens are zeiss too.

the 28 and 35 FLs are the most generally useful on the M8, in my experience (37 and 46 effectively). a 40 is about an effective 53, maybe a good choice if you favor 50s.
 
With the M9 around $4000 for an M8.2 is steep, too steep. Then again it will soon be a collector's item: the shortest lived Leica M ever!
The Nokton and the Summilux are two different breeds, little or no comparison. But when it comes to money, well, what can anyone say..
Finally, no! Leica is not going to post a new firmware update for any M models before the 9.

I've heard of focus issues with the Leica 35 Summilux, but not with the Nokton.
BTW I've also heard a 35 Summilux replacement is in the pipeline. If so it will be expensive I'm sure.
Depending on your need for low light, I would probably opt for the Summicron instead.

Unlike the inexpensive current version at $4500?🙂

The new one is rumored to be $5000. Will be interesting, though, to see the value of the current lens once the new one hits the streets.
