Last December, I sold all my camera gears to paid for debts accumulated over the last 4 years while studying Visual Arts :bang:. Now I'm saving up again for new camera, I'm looking forward for the Bessa III or R3m +50mm 1.1. I enjoy working with medium format, yet at the same time I can't brushed off the 35mm linage. Therefore I'm somewhat in the limbo in regards to choose a right camera, I hope you guys can help me out with helpful feedbacks or your thoughts on these cameras and lenses.

Eventually you're going to want both a 35mm system and a medium format system, and maybe even more than that depending on what you like to shoot. I have a Hasselblad system, a Leica System and a 35mm SLR system (Olympus OM). Each has its use, and I have a set of lenses for each.

Since you can only afford one thing to start, why don't you think of what you want to shoot now. Do you have a project in mind? What would work best for it? If not, then the 35mm system is probably more useful as a general purpose setup to start. and its cheaper.

personally, I'd go with the R3A. 35mm is easier to find and less expensive 'per shot'. the 1:1 vf is interesting, as well as the auto exposure.

You can get a pretty good MF folder for much less than the cost of the Bessa III, and maybe even with a better lens (say, an 80/2.8?). Yep, it won't have a built-in lightmeter, but for the price difference you could get a VC meter and still be cheaper than the III.

Yashicamat 124 TLR for medium to get you started. I'd say SLR for 35mm because you can build a system faster and for much less money; good used SLR lenses are far less expensive than good RF lenses, for the most part. I shoot a Bessa R for RF, and Fujica ST605 (very RF-like in size and weight) and Pentax SP1000 with M42 lenses. Excellent M42 lenses can be found eaasily, and for good prices. The ST series has extremely b right viewfinders. The R can be found for $200 or so. LTM lens prices are rising, even soviet ones ...

My solution to your problem would be to get a used R3a, a cheaper 50mm lens, and older, used medium format camera (older Fuji rangefinder is close enough to 667)...

I think Chris is right. You've got to figure out what you want to do and chose the appropriate system. Tie goes to the R3A.

An R3A with 40mm f1.4 works brilliantly as a single camera/lens combination.

I'd also suggest a second-hand 120 camera as the 667s are relatively expensive. Lovely camera though...

Thanks guy, I think I will stick with medium format, I always take my time for the shots, never been a happy trigger guy. And medium format does have better resolution too,
BTW just got a job as a graphic designer, so I will be able to save up for the cameras again 🙂... thanks all
