Have I heard right? The X100 soft? Oh my god... one day I will prove this lens in a X-T1, maybe?![]()

i don't think i said the x100 was soft…just looks a bit softer than the 23/1.4 but also as noted above, the x100 has different sensor/pixel number/aa filter…that has to change things some.

It is all relative. The important thing is it sharp enough and is there enough megapixel to print big enough for u. Even though I own equipment that can produce sharper images, I find that original x100 takes a picture that is sharp enough for my needs.
Sharpness is just one aspect of relative to the overall IQ.

agreed!
after all hcb said it best…sharpness is a bourgeois concept!

it was a quick shot…i was cleaning up the room and happened to look over, noticed my reflection in the window's glass…i like the feel of the shot but you're right…more work could be done.
Joe, I meant you could create MORE images like this one… where the subject is not quite revealed.

Love this one... colors, textures... and yes, I have felt cold when I have seen the photo. ;-)
Thanks. Yes, the colors and textures, as well as long shadows in the early afternoon were captivating. But the fingers wouldn't tolerate the cold for very long.
I haven't used the X100, so can't compare its sharpness.

It's been a while since I posted here. The 23mm is probably my favorite lens of the moment. All shot in South Africa two months ago

Some test shots from today. Shot without the hood. Amazing flare resistance; you don't need the hood at all, IMO. The only shot with any flare was one where the sun itself was in the picture!

Just picked one of these up today and I can't wait to give it a go over the weekend.
Played around with it for ten minutes in the car park shooting through the windscreen into the sun, no hood and still very hard to make it flare!
