Fujirumors.com says this lens will go on sale very soon (9th?) and will be sold for $200 (!). If that's true, that is very very tempting.

I saw that rumor as well. It said price would be reduced by $250. I suspect that's a typo and that its reduced by $25 (at least that's the cut currently shown on Amazon). Buy, hey, if it goes to $200, its a no-brainer. After all, this lens has some of the highest test scores of any modern lens.

Yeah, I am skeptical about the $200 number. Any discount would be a temptation. If it really is $200, I guess I have no excuse not to get it for my newly acquired X-E2. :p

If is true, Is less than the money I get to swap it with the 23...
A big mistake!:bang:
This mean I'll buy it again.

I can easily see it going for $250... most pancakes are not as expensive as Fujis. I'm hoping to see a huge discount on the 23mm myself...

Oh and the new rumor (note: still just a rumor!) says this time the lens discounts are not tied to body purchase so the current X owners are not safe from GAS!!

Edit:

Looks like it is indeed $250 off on the 27mm, making it $200!! :D

Might customers become skeptical about buying fuji gear at launch prices seeing as if they wait a few months the manufacturer will slash prices at nearly 50%?

Not everything is slashed that much. I would think a lot has to do w/ popularity and warehouse inventory.

U can be the only judge or wait for a sale or jump in now. If u wait, then u are risking not having the right equipment for your particular need...

In general, no matter what vendor, it is a good strategy to wait a bit anyway for cost or other reasons like waiting for the bugs to be worked out of first gen product.

PS I bought this lens when as soon as they were available and I do not regret it. The 27 pancake's 40ish fov is my preferred focal length. I think in terms of 40 perspective first. It was the lens I was waiting for.
