images: fuji 35/1.4

When I first got the X-Pro1 and 35mm 1.4, I though the lens was way to big (being used to small m mount lenses). However, once I used it, I knew it was a worth dealing with the extra size because it is one of my favorites ever. Currently, I'm going through the same thing with the 23mm 1.4... it f-ing HUGE... but it is also top notch. Sometimes, big lenses are worth using. I hope this makes sense because I'm a little bit buzzed. 😉

i would think that the 23 is a good size for an xp1…i find it comfortable on my xe1...

...This was the very first image I shot with my XE-1/35 1.4 when it first arrived. It was late December in the evening, in a room with little lamplight. I wanted to see how the camera or rather the lens would react in such low light to one handed shooting, and it did not disappoint.

For a while, all I really wanted to do was repeat variations on that test--low light, high ISO, wide open, AF. If I were to be confined to one camera, one lens, this would be the combo. Here are a few of those low-light tests from the gallery.

This one is more recent--using available light (including the videographer's massive flood) during my neice's pre-wedding shoot.

Thanks Joe. The light was high and from the back or the scene.

I struggle with whether or not to tune down the saturation when developing RAW files.
The colors especially orange/red always looks so POW! to me from the x-trans files.
