Interesting how shallow the dof with the Summilux is here. Taking into account the face of Pen camera looks to be at a greater angle than the one taken with the 42 1.2, both lens lettering and the Olympus Pen lettering are in focus before the lever just left of that goes soft.

Of course the Summilux is known for it's field curvature so it's always a crap shoot :) Thanks for sharing these......nice Pen!
 
thanks, actually it might just be me but i also agree after playing around the 1.2 that the extra half stop is not really noticeable, and with prices on 1.2 lens compared to 1.4 it's better to stay with 1.4 most of the times when budget is the main concern.

in this case the 42mm makes sense (it was a fixer-upper bargain) cause it matches up with the VF in the olympus PEN FT perfectly enabling me to shoot with both eyes open. (I suspected this when trying out the 40mm in the pen ft VF.)
 
I love Pen-F lenses! I compared my Canon 35/2 to a Pen-F 38/1.8, and the Pen was better on my Fuji X-e1. So I took only it on a business trip to Seattle last week. Fine lenses, and perfect size for the Fujis. In your comparison with the Summilux, I prefer the Pen-F again.

I have a 15 Heliar, I think I will have a go with it on my new Xpro1.
Meanwhile this is with my 50 1.5 Nokton which seems to live on the camera at the moment.
It did spend a lot of time on the M8 also till I sold it...
So far not enamoured of the Fuji 18mm.

Defense of the CV 15/4.5 - no 'smearing'

I realize that my earlier praise of the CV 15mm on my X-Pro1 was only words... no evidence. My fault. Here are some images that might help support what I've said (i.e.: I don't see any of the so called "smearing" in the corners of images made with this lens on an APS-C sensored camera.). The first three images are, in order, the full frame, the center 100% crop, and the lower right 100% crop. Keep in mind that these 100% crops are what a 5ft. long print would look like close-up! :p

I think these two crops show: (1) the image quality in the center is the same as the corner.. that is, sharpness seems to be about the same; and (2) the lower right crop shows nothing that I'd call smearing... those blades of grass are pretty sharp!

Here's another set, using the CV 15mm indoors. The first image is full frame and the second is a 100% crop of the lower left. Again, this crop represents what a print about 5ft. long would look like close-up.

And again, I see nothing that I'd call "smearing" in the corner. You can detect just a tiny bit of fuzziness in the crop (look at the button on the clothes item laying on the arm of the chair). This is due to hand-holding the camera at 1/25 sec..

By the way, I DO wear glasses and they work just fine thank you. ;)
 
This is my entry in the "Heath Robinson Adapter" Class.

Paxette Roeschlein Kreuznach Telenar 90 3.8 on the Fuji.

Adapter is Fuji X - Leica M. Leica M - Screw mount, stuck on the back of a Konica T2 mount (Bayonet cut off) with a slightly adapted M42 -M39.
Seems to work ok.
I think a hood & some black paint inside my adapter would improve things considerably.

I took my Son to our local park for 1/2 hour walk... As always, I had my Fuji X-E2, this time, with a Nikkor S 50mm f/1.4 mounted (1972-1973, MFD=.6m, or 2f)

I did forget to change the Manual Focal Length to 50mm though... it was on 300mm [:sleep:] , Oh well... that just changes the Lens EXIF anyway since the Fuji has no IBIS.

This was the real first day that started off in the 50's and will end the 50's, with a high of 72[sup]0[/sup]f
