Idle speculation on a Saturday afternoon...I've heard of modern cameras about which I know next to nothing (Pentax, Olympus?) that move the sensor or film plane around to achieve image stabilization. That sounds like a wonderful idea to me, since it would work with any lens that can be mounted. Now how about using the same technology to do tilt & shift? Imagine doing that with a range of lenses from 15 to 200mm. I guess a lot of 135 format lenses don't make a large enough image circle to allow much tilting & shifting, but some of them do - I think some Nikon rangefinder lenses could cover the 6x6 negative of the Bronica - and you could always crop. Is anyone doing anything like that?

The new Pentax K7 is supposed to allow you "fine tune composition" by the use of the motors that move the sensor for the SR Shake Reduction. That would give you a bit of shift with the right lens. :)

Other than that, I know Sony/Konica Minoltas only have an on/off-switch for the AS/SSS stabilizer, while I know little about Olympus' implementation. I don't think any of the current implementations offer anything related to tilt movements.

I remember people speculated about the possibilities for increasing resolution by stacking exposures taken with less than a pixel of offset when the KM 7D came out, shifted panoramas as well, but such things never came to pass.
