in another thread, jorge posted this note and i wanted to ensure that as many folks saw it as possible.

To All. Please read and keep this in mind.

If you want to discuss off topic threads, there is a forum specific to this. "And now for something completely different"

I will not block, lock or delete a thread UNLESS it is using vulgar language addressed to others. I don't give a harry rats a** if people want to insult each other. Just don't use profanity on my forum. Its not much to ask. Someone was banned for his outright use of vulgar language towards other users.

Use PM, email and I don't care. but DO NOT use it on an open forum. The only exception is the forum "And now for something completely different" you can insult each other there and have flame wars. But again, do not use vulgar language or the thread will be deleted. You can insult each other there without fear of being banned.

so there you have it.
want to start a war, state an opinion or just be an outright jerk?
you have a place for it.

if the mods see a thread that fits there we will move it.

don't know if most notice but we already do that - move threads, that is.
lots of posts are about lenses or darkroom etc. and they get moved. it's just a bit of tidying up.

my understanding is that posts to that forum won't show up in the 'most recent threads' view.. is that correct?

"FrankG was banned for his outright use of vulgar language towards other users."

I thought I had set the record straight.

Frank used "vulgar" language only once after being insulted numerous times.

He did it publicly, thats the whole point.
If he received e-mails with insults against his person, than that is very sad, but it was in a private e-mail and not in front of everybody.

I'm a mental degenerate, but why is that the case, that topics in "something completely different" won't show up in the recent threads?

I didn't know there was a category like that, I would've put my kidney stone thread in there. Is it only accessible from the menu at the top of the homepage? And just wonderin', why don't those catagories match the ones on the sidebar?

that section does not show up in recent threads as that is jorge's choice.
the idea being that most people most of the time come here for things rf.

it can be easily accessed by going to the forums and scrolling down and this way it is your choice to see what's there and not have it shoved in your face, along with the regular photo stuff.

Or one can subscribe to the forum.

I bet you get an email or a pm when someone posts...
Correct. Or you can get daily updates I believe, that come about midnight.

edit: and thank you Jorge.

I second the motion that if you are childish enough to need vulgar language, you need not post here. ( in any thread).

Remember we are guests - act like it.

Thanks for the hard work of all involved.
Steve.

And well really, it's an internet forum. If people are taking it so seriously as to be provoked to bad behaviour (whatever the behaviour might be) they might want to sign up for some self-empowerment classes or buy some of that 'enlargement' medication constantly being offered to me though email (how do they know?)

I guess the "completely different" thread is intended to be the "ghetto" of RFF. Out of sight and out of mind.

No one wants to go there and no one cares about those who wind up there....

Oh, BTW, my "tax thread" was sent there - even though I posted it because the pic was taken with my Bessa R2S....you know, a RF camera thingy.

ghetto is such a strong word...maybe more like an amusement park?

and it's not a punishment to have a thread moved there or to start a thread there or to post to a thread there.

your tax thread had a photo in it but it was not about photography, at least that wasn't the direction it took. please don't look for offense in the actions of the mods.

perhaps if it was a w/nw post...

This is a half truth.

Frank was attacked in posts by a few members. Rich was one of them.

I still see attacks posted by a few members.

I'm not particularly pleased with seeing my name mentioned by you Frank and I've let you know that in the past as well.

I remember the thread you posted on another site about how you learnt to add smileys at the end of your comments so that people couldn't say that you were trolling and that you'd be 'protected' by it and could say anything you wanted.

I've finally got to unlurk on these threads and stand with what I have seen of Rich here. I've read both Frank's and Rich's comments here and at Pnet. Let me simply say I know which of them I would believe in any questionable circumstance.

I'd prefer for this not to be true. Unfortunately, life has it's own way of filtering out what is true and what is not, Frank. (No, I do not believe that MSadar is your wife. For awhile I did. But there are enough... mistakes... )

Good luck, good life and, most important, good light, Frank.
