I find myself in Montreal and in need of an electric kettle, of all things. Ideally, the store would be somewhere near the Old Port area. Ideas and directions very appreciated.
Btw, while here, I am testing my newly-acquired (in a local store) Ricoh GR so this is a totally photo-related post

hey, welcome to Montreal !
I don't know about any stores in the old port (don't venture there often) but it's within walking distance of chinatown and downtown, you'll definitely find it there. There's plenty of tea houses and regular corner stores along St Catherine or St Laurent
Hope it helps, enjoy your stay

Congrats on GR! I have tripod purchased in Montreal few years ago.
You could walk in Montreal with GR a lot. One of the best cities in Canada for street photography. I have done it in hours after work.
Skip the kettle go for a beer in Les 3 Brasseurs in Old Port
Cheers!

Thank you! I am falling in love with this City. My feet are killing me after countless miles of walking but holy cow, I could easily move here; am just visiting family. The people are so nice and there are lots of them in the streets, for me a real treat (I live in Phoenix). Found the kettle in a neighborhood store
. The GR is getting a workout, it's a pleasure to handle, the X100s mostly stays in the backpack. Les 3 Brasseurs is now on my list

Quickly though - did you get yourself that kettle?
(by the way - Montreal - I would classify that as one of the major cities to visit if you come to Canada - Vancouver and Toronto the others...)
Cheers,
Dave
P.S. if you can, see if you can visit Camtec ( http://www.camtecphoto.com/en ) while you're there

Thanks Dave, I've visited the Camtec store closer to the waterfront, I think that's where I got my new backpack. If I recall, they have a very tempting selection on bags.. may need to go back, just to look
