The best camera is one that still works!
What I like about Youxin is he answers emails promptly and doesn't bull**it about anything at all. The last time I dealt with him he was good enough to forward a lens to DAG for me for a CLA then packed it and returned it with the camera I had sent him for repair. He did that for no extra cost at all which impressed me!

Yes I found him extremely genuine and honest, and his work is excellent as well.

What is Youxin's ebay address? And how would his name be correctly pronounced? From my very limited experience, it doesn't sound exactly like it looks!

Youxin Ye is great to work with. I sent him my M2 when the shutter curtain tore off; he called me on the phone to explain how it likely happened, how he could fix it, and why it was more sensible to use a used curtain than a new one. I sent my camera to him Monday and was shooting Friday.
Really good communication, fast service, and very reasonable prices.

No problem. Tell him Jim, the guy who bought the M2 sent you - he may give me a discount next time!

Like others has mentioned here, the "oil" problem started due to short of supply of originally used premium Switzerland watch oil (factory closed down). Youxin was trying to find a substitute at that time. Now everything is resolved and I believe a lot of people have gotten their camera reworked free of charge.
I have never had any problem with Youxin, like most people here.
Just my 2 cent.

That's surprising since you have participated in more than one of these threads were the explanation of the lubrication problem was offered.![]()
i have yet to hear an explanation regarding the OVER-USE of lubricants in youxin's work.

What was the explanation Youxin gave you about over-use of oil? I assume he didn't give you a satisfactory answer, if you asked.
His explanation for the migration of the oil on my camera seemed reasonable and it is consistent with what others have related. But, then, on my camera it was a slow migration of a tiny bit of oil that made it to the shutter curtains - I couldn't say it was the use of too much oil.

While I agree Youxin is very good and great to deal with he can be a little over enthusiastic with lube.
I have an M2 that sits in the cupboard mostly after being CLA'd by him a year ago ... when I took it out the other day to use it there was oil on the shutter curtain that had run down from the top of the camera. I cleaned it off but it hasn't done the shutter curtain any favours and will probably have shortened it's life somewhat!
Youxin uses too much oil for a M Leica....
I don't should send my Leica to such a repairman...:bang:

Never ever have had a problem with Youxin. If he uses too much oil for you that leaves him more time to fix my camera's. He's a great guy to deal with.

For your camera there was no more oil...

the outside of the camera was covered with oil when i opened the box, it was everywhere. he never offered an explanation, he just said to send it back and he'd fix it. there should never be oil coming out of the camera for any reason. he simply uses too much oil.
the other problem was the rangefinder being off. it was packed very well, so i highly doubt it got knocked out of alignment in the mail. i dropped my m2 with an old 90mm summicron onto concrete the other day. i picked it up and everything was fine, rf works just as it did.
i really don't want to take money out of the guy's pocket, but i'm still kind of pissed that he f*cked up my camera badly enough for me to sell it to just be rid of it. it wasn't a rare camera or even a sentimental one, but it was mine and he ruined it. and i get tired of these planted posts praising his work. if you want to save some money on a cheap cla, send it to me and i'll load it up with WD40 and get it back to you tooth sweet! i'll even charge you one dollar less!

Sorry to hear of your experience. I haven't posted on this thread because I suspected it might head this way; in any case, I found Youixn excellent to deal with, my M3 works perfectly, no oil problems (from one year ago).i get tired of these planted posts praising his work. i

Did you sell it with or with-out the oil ?

i sold it as-is with an explanation about the botched cla. it was fairly inexpensive when i bought it, so it was easy to sell with the damage.

i don't dismiss most of the responses in this thread, i'm sure they're genuine. i just remember that this thread popped up a day after the last thread criticizing youxin's work was active.
i only post my bad experience because i asked around quite a bit before sending my camera to him and most everyone said he was fine. in the end, i had a camera sent back to me in worse shape than i sent it.
the funny thing is, i sent an m2 to dag at the same time i sent this m3 to youxin and it still works perfectly. it cost me a lot more, but it still works.

How long take DAG to do a M CLA? maybe more than 5 months, and you have no idea what is the status of the repair, e-mail unanswered.

I used DAG for CLA of my M6 and Youxin for my M3 (back when I had Leicas, that is). Without going into too much detail ( I did post more detailed review of my expereince with both here in a different thread some time ago), I can tell you - I would NEVER use either one of them to tough my camera equipment. And since I dont have Leicas any more - I dont have to worry about it.

if i remember correctly, it took three months. i think it was $290. but the thing is, it came back perfect and it still works perfectly.
