If it's good, it must be said; if it's VERY good, I gladly put it on a forum:

I have a Thinktank Retrospective 30, very pleased with it, BUT it developed a small problem at the strap: the stitch came loose on a length of about 2 cm, and I suppose it will go further; have a look at the picture:

I contacted the people at Thinktank USA (IIRC) last Wednesday (May 1st), on Friday 3th I received a mail from the local distributor in the Netherlands, and today, Tuesday May 7th, I received a brand new Retrospective 30 !

Note: I bought it from the Internet, not locally, and I can keep the defective bag !

That's what I call a great service !

Stefan.

Great gear and they're chipping away at Domke's shoulder bag market. Their roller bags are the best out there imo.

Great service indeed. I myself have spoken to them in the past, not a complaint I must add, but found them most helpful. I have a Citywalker 10 which has only been used three times and I love its light weight and quality of materials. However it holds more gear than I own and will be selling soon.

i love my retrospective 7, they have a great product and it really feels the part.

they have a customer for life (and the one bag i bought from them will last it too!)

They make great stuff. I've added the shoulder strap thingy to my UD60 and can now take most of the 500 kit + the SWC + my laptop on the motorcycle. I didn't think it would serve any useful purpose over the shoulder strap until I thought about the bike. (Yes, it would be a horrible get off.)

they make great products indeed and I fall in love with the retrospective regularly but I had 3 of them and sold them all due to the high weight-for-the-size ratio. these bags are heavy compared to other bags of similar size which always made me prefer a billingham.

great story and nice to hear that service is still there if you need it

I own a Retro 5 and love it. It's been everywhere with me. I am wondering if anyone (Joe, maybe? lol) has owned the 5 and the 7? The 5 serves most of my purposes, but there are times when a slightly larger bag might be useful, if for no other reason than to fit my ipad.

I have to agree. I have a 5 and really love it but would enjoy having a bit more space for the days I carry my Pentax 67.

Andy and huddy, that was my thinking. get a larger bag for more gear but Ive since realised that I only really cary a light kit the majority of time, mostly due to a back problem, hence my deciding to sell the Citywalker. Great bags though and I reckon better than Domke.

that was my thinking but...as stated elsewhere...the retro bags are thick and heavy and begin to take their toll after a while of walkabout shooting.
the retro 5 is the only one that i have kept...i had the 5/7/10...

the citywalkers are much lighter, made from different materials...my main complaint about them is they are too fussy inside...so many little pockets/straps etc.
my ideal think tank bag would be a citywalker 7, without the excess inside pockets...

I like the Citywalker 10 I have and the inner pockets dont bother mee too much but for the small amount of gear I carry its just too big generally. Hows the Bowery doing Joe?

I won't buy a bag anymore unless it will fit a tablet. I have the Sub Urban Disguise 30 for my DSLR, and am looking for a larger one for my laptop. Likely one of the larger retrospectives, unless I get a smaller laptop and the 7.

I just got a 7. Caved in after I pm'd Joe for one of his bags only to find out how expensive shipping to Europe is. :bang:

The 7 in blue slate is very nice. Yes, a bit heavy, but very nice.

One niggle I see right from the start: there is no deliberate accommodation for horizontal inserts. Given the depth of the bag, it would have been really nice. But the two sides of the main inner compartment have pockets, and hence cannot support hook and loop. The main dividers themselves are also smooth, so you're outta luck there, too. That leaves me to rig horizontal dividers using the side walls, not the dividers. Not ideal, but doable.
