Inclement weather!

Your shot, Steve, made me think of Highway 2 along the Wenatchee River approaching Leavenworth WA. I liked to travel light, just a luggage box... sleeping bag & a tarp.

Doug,
If we tag along with Steve we can travel light!😀 (if he will take a little of our gear in the trailer😉).

Steve,
That is a really nice rig. We will have to stay in touch -- never know we might be crossing paths in our travels or we'll make plans to. I have family in the LA area and friends in Santa Barbara.

D2

D2 I've gone soft; my last bike was a Yamaha XS-Eleven standard that I rode for 12 years. It was a very responsive bike, and I got to the point of having difficulty maintaining that constant high level of concentration needed to keep it between the lines. I preferred that sort of bike, but a Harley or some other large tourer might be easier for the aged. Never did get that BMW 4-banger I was thinking of, and these days my BMW has 4 wheels and a (small) trunk.

Does every gearhead own cameras and motorcycles?!!]

Not on a motorcycle, but on a bicycle. Several years back, I rode up Fall River Road (an unpaved dirt "jeep road") in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, on a rented mountain bike with a broken front shock. Started at about 8,000 feet and made it up to about 11,500, before it started snowing hard and I had to turn back because I could no longer see where I was going. This was in June... I took my humble and sturdy Oly Stylus, and even managed some shots. I'll have to dig them up.

By the way, it took about two hours to climb to 11.5K, and only 20 minutes or so to get down (wheee!!!) 😀

Travel light.

Travel light.

My son quit riding with me so I sold the Goldwing. I have a Harley dresser now. If I had a hot machine I'd probably kill myself, I get suckered real easy. The Harley forces me to slow down and enjoy the secenery.

I've been carrying the D70 with me this year to shoot the Santa Barbara area when it's green. The camera is too big to carry over your sholder and the harley vibrates too much to put in the bags. When the lens comes in for the Leica, I'll carry it with me in a belt pouch.

Cameras and Bikes. Big Boys Toys.
