Industar 26m image quality and cap

What is the image quality of the silver Industar 26m (1958 lever focusing model) and what type of lens cap does it take (The plastic black Jupiter-8 cap was too large for it, although it states 40,5mm in the manual).

Image quality is excellent. The caps vary a little amongst the collection I have - some fit certain lenses better. 40.5mm is the filter-thread size, not cap size. I think the external size of a J-8 is a fraction larger than an I-26, which may explain your experience.
