Hi all,
I recently got... 'poisoned' into the world of RF and I was doing a bit of reading up before I take the final step. I'm just wondering, is the Industar-69 compatible with the Bessa R?
Thanks in advance to all.

The lens should be compatible if it is LTM. If it is a collapsible design, it probably should not be collapsed into the Bessa body.

LTM Yes, but not for FED, Leica, or Zorki.
Just because the I-69 (which were made for Chajka half-frame cameras) has LTM, would mean that it can mount and FOCUS properly with LTM rangefinders. The I-69 was removable to allow it to be used with enlargers. That made unnecessary to get a separate 28mm enlarger lens for the half-frame negs which the Chajka made.
Modification is possible to adjust the lens focal register. But the lens will focus by scale only (since no RF cam in built in the lens) and there will be serious vignetting issues since the lens was designed to cover an 18 X 24 mm frame only, not the standard 24 X 36mm.

set the bessa in speed B, open the back, and look at the barrel when you collapse it

Industar-69 28/2.8 covers 35mm frame, with visible and horrible drop of image quality in corners.
No, it is not compatible. It uses a 39mm thread, but the distance from the lens to the film does not allow infinity focus. I modified one to correct that error, and a lot of filing down of the internal stops on the mount was required. The lens is made for 35mm half-frame cameras. It will not cover a full-frame 35mm negative. It could be used on a Digital camera with a crop factor, such as the RD-1 with its 1.5x factor. Would be close on a Leica M8.

There is a seller on the bay who sells them for a decent price (about 20$) and also has pics that show the vignetting. I've seen one of them them sold on another very reputable shop as a "rare WA for M39"

Thanks everyone for the very very helpful answers and advice.
I'm not at the stage where I'm ready to do my own modifications just as yet, so I guess I'll look for something else.
I really appreciate all the comments. Have been lurking for a while and always found it to be uber friendly. Thanks again guys.
