Inexpensive alternative to Leica lens Shades/Hoods

Hello

I'm thinking of getting a Vintage Leica 50mm Summarit 1.5 Screw-Mount lens.

This lens is not multicoated and really needs to have a lens Hood/Shade attached to avoid flare.

Unfortunately, the Leica Hood/Shade for tis lens is rather expensive. Does anyone know of an alternative?

Look for a series VI adapter ring, Tiffen #611, and a Series VI Shade.

Or get a heavystar 40.5mm vented shade and build up the threads using teflon tape. I've done both.

The Summarit uses 41mm threaded accessories.

Another possibility is get a cheap 41mm filter, take the glass out of it, and epoxy the 40.5 Heavystar hood to the empty filter mount.

I used a 41mm - 43mm adapter + 43mm Heavystar hood until I got the proper hood.
