Looking for a decent flash meter...cheap.
Anyone know this model?
I've seen it under other names, including Vivitar.
Thanks,

These often came bundled with rentals. It looks as if they had only a 1/125s gate time and a nine EV range, which is quite limited and limiting.

I second Wein. The first model that I purchased back in the mid 1970s is still in production and really cheap. Otherwise, a Sekonic 308 pretty much does everything, but at a higher cost.

I like my L308s. It is really great for flash (two modes for flash). I saw it for $61.00 someplace maybe Amazon, I paid more. One normal feature I like is the ease of changing between reflective and incident. When I started with it, I loved to take both readings, even though I'm wasn't sure it helps me much. Yes it really did, I decided what has causes the difference and then choose the right reading.

Find a used Minolta (Flash Meter) Flashmeter III
You should be able to find one for about $75. i used these for years.. had several. The Flashmeter V is a better choice, but more expensive. My experience is that the Wein meters aren't too accurate. The Minolta will work well as an incident meter (non flash mode). Minolta is out of the camera business, so if you like their stuff.. buy a spare or two.

For multiple flash lighting setups (with each flash set on manual and different power levels as needed), I find the Gossen Luna Pro F very handy. It is extremely accurate, and also a great all-purpose meter.
