Got a box yesterday delivered by UPS. In it were three cameras that I won at auction (no, not THAT site). The one thing they have in common is the extensive use of plastics. Beyond that, each is completely different than the others.

First up is a Yamasheta 35MM, with an EF-MM flash unit (it's one of these faux SLR's with a viewwfinder window next to the "prism" hump). The only metal on this camera is in the rewinder shaft, and the hot-shoe. But hey, the flash works, and it came pre-loaded with a fully exposed roll of film!

Second, a Minolta Maxxum HTsi Plus with a Minolta AF 28-80/3.5-5.6, and built-in flash. A slight bit more metal in this one, but not by a percentage wise number. If I'm correct, even some of the lens elements are molded plastic. But it has every feature Konica-Minolta could cram in, and find space for a control button. Program, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, and Manual modes. Motor driven film transport. That custom Minolta hot-shoe so you can add a dedicated remote-control flash. Manual focusing mode. Auto Bracketing. Continuous exposures (poor mans' motor drive). Every indicator that you could think of in the viewfinder. And a button and icon set that one would normally find on a top-end P&S. And it weighs about the same as the Yamasheta!

Last, there was a Yashica FX-3 Super 2000 with ML 35-70/3.5-4.8. Unlike the Minolta, this one has much more metal and glass in it. It also is more conventionally styled than the swoopy looking Minolta. It's a basic mechanical camera with LED +/- indicators in the viewfinder. No built in motor drive, or the ability to add one, but it does have a top shutter speed of 1/2000. The zoom will do macro from about 10 inches away. And it has a flash sync of 1/125 to go with it's dedicated flash units. This camera is the one reason I bid on the group. That, and the fact I got it for $11 plus shipping/handling, for a total of $25.70.

I like a deal.

I have had a Yashica Fx-3 (not the Super you have) for something like 30 years. Frankly, I have seldom used it. I bought it as a backup for the Contax 139Q I bought. But it is a nice little camera, that handles well and takes any C/Y mount lens. Or with an adapter, M42 mount lenses. I am sure you will enjoy it.
