Info on latest Voigtlander adapters?

Here to be exact.

I have Type II adapters for 50/75 and 28/90, but they don't have a recessed area. Rather, the ring should be wider than Type I, so someone could in theory code them. Because of this, they might not work with some lenses (with infinity locks) but they work plenty fine with my Canon lenses.

Never heard of a newer version than that though.

The Type II does have the recessed ring. This allows code marks to be put on the flange in an area that will not come in contact with the camera. The Type II is the latest (far as I know). From CQ: "Type II adapters can be M8 bar coded (not sold with bar coding), Type I adapters can not be M8 coded."

Type II on the left, Type I on the right. Nowadays, you basically can only buy Type II, unless you look hard. Type I is necessary though, to accommodate for the focus lock of some older lenses. Leica adapters also come with and without indentations.

Coding of these would be easiest with a Sharpie or other permanent marker. It rubs off though, and so needs to be reapplied from time to time. The issue with the Type I adapters is that there was nowhere to apply the Sharpie, due to the cut out as shown above. Jon Milch sells an adapter with detents that can be more permanently marked with nail polish or model paint. It is more expensive, but quite useful. I have one permanently mounted to my C/V 15/4.5 Heliar. If you were good with a dremmel tool, you could probably make something more permanent work with the Type II adapter shown above.
 
The marks do not rub off on the Type II as the surface has a step to it and where you put the coding does not come in contact with the camera face.
 
Ah - thanks for the information. For some reason I thought there was a later version of the type II that had the recessed ring. So all the type IIs had it.

I was considering the etched adapters like the Kipons - but I read that they had problems. So those with first hand experience are pleased with them?

I saw some otherbrand and corresponded with the merchant (jieying-usahttp://myworld.ebay.com/jieying-usa/) , but he did not answer my questions related to construction materials.
 
Glad to help. I've had about 6 – don't ask 🙂 - of the Kipons and only had trouble with one. When mounted the lens was about 33 degrees off from where it should be so lens f-stop indicator was at 4 oclock instead of noon - if that makes sense. All others have worked fine. Had a number of the Type IIs without any problem. Granted, applying the code with paint in a milled out groove is neater than a using a marker, but they both worked equally well.

Thanks - I am tempted to just get the Voigtlander, but it would be very convenient to have the actual slots - no need for a template.
