I kind of agree, but that "oval" stretches very wide across the frame. Put a light source right on the edge of the frame and it will affect the whole scene adversely if the camera is left to its own programming.
My question is why they couldn't make it a spot like the M6?

So it has been about 2 weeks now....A little love hate going on
Got the grip tac from camera leather. BIG difference. Very easy to install and had it 2 days after ordering. Thanks Morgan!
Slowly figuring out exposure. Still sorta psses me off. I shoot M6 and M8 at the same time. Exposure shoudl be close but the M8 is usually under the M6 which I know is dead on. Getting used to it but it seems to "float" a bit from scene to scene.
Had a very bad experience in the rain....was in a car wreck. Pulled the M8 out to grab a few shots. It was raining slightly. I did not really wory about it. We are not talking a downpour! Camera worked fine until I went to chimp the photos. Some were all white, some all black and some a partial image with many multi-colored lines across it. I was a bit freaked! No moisture inside at all. It was only out for 5 minutes or so and it did not get drenched. That was a confidence breaker! I dont think twice about my M6/M4 in wet weather...guess the M8 needs some protection.
Was out in Asheville the other night jsut messing around in low light. Suddenly the "shutter fault" came on. Sure enough I had accidently set it to C mode with discrete on and zapped it. Took the battery out, stood on my head, put on the grass skirt, rolled the bones and nothing would work. This was rough. Read on LUF that i might try to just gve it a good whack and free up the shutter. I whacked the crap out of it and it worked like a champ.
Overall good so far. I am not in lve with it. when I grab the M6 I really want to be able to chimp
Rant over !
