toner builds up, doesn't maintain color transparence. Doesn't allow multiple surface choices. And frankly, doesn't allow for as high a resolution and color gradiation as current inkjets.

Laser looks great once you get over the 1200 dpi mark but then we are talking the laser printers that cost a couple grand
I have a Xerox Phaser at work that I have tested a couple times and although it does ok.... once you are right up to the print it doesn't look great
Inkjet is cheaper and can be better quality
I am using a Epson C88 with the MIS inks and have produced some quite amazing prints

We have a couple color laser printers at work, one of them a very nice 11x17 which does great vivid solids. However, for photos it's somewhere between almost-ok and totally nasty. 🙁
Even my 7yo hand-me-down HP 720 here at home runs circles around it for photos.
