Inside the Leica M - PICS Please

Does anyone have any pics of a disassembled M (any model) or lens? I'm just curious on what it looks like on the inside. I would take my own camera apart, but I'm afraid I won't be able to put it back together....

You can eventually start here. I wouldn't open my Leica, it looks really complicated in there! DAG, Sherry, Gerry Smith etc are not called experts for nothing.

Google "leica schnitt", "leica cutaway".

Attrappe may also get results. It means dummy in German.

Durchschnitt may work too.

When I bought the M2 it was completely stuck. As I bought it for a very small amount I figured I would see if I can repair it myself. (with some help from friendly forum members through some q&a). It turned out that one of the felt strips on the back of the lightshield had come loose and gotten into the wheels below.
I have also stripped the top and bottom plate and will be painting these black.
The modifications so far are:
- removed self timer and closed up self timer lever hole on body. I recovered the body shell with a Aki Asahi cover without self timer lever.
- removed the flash wiring and closed up the two holes on the back of the top plate. I don't even own a flash.. The hotshoe will stay because of the use of external finders.
I'll post some more pictures when its finished, but it may take a while.

There's no way I would attempt what you are doing though ... good luck with it and maybe keep posting more pics as you progress! 🙂
