Walking the old parts of my home town, I had the Baldax loaded with PanF and the R3A loaded with Ektar. I was struck by the color and textures of the decaying landscape. Knowing Ektar was loaded was inspiring in a way. I really wanted to see how it handled what I was seeing in front of me. I think it did very well.

R3A, 21mm skopar and 40mm nokton, Ektar 100.

Cool stuff.

I think I like Ektar in 120 more than 135, personally. There can't be any real differences between the two, but for some reason I like it better in 120. I still prefer Reala and Portra 160nc for 35mm.

I'm taking a trip to Newfoundland this summer and Ektar 100 is one of the 3 135 films I plan to take with me (Tri-X, Ektar, K64) and possibly the 21mm color-skopar. Hopefully I can get some nice colours too.

do tell where you're going and promise to post some pics. Newfoundland is one of my favourite places.

😀 with envy!

Enjoy!

Steve,

I need to move. Your town is most photogenic. Great work!

Wayne,

I passed by you on the way there.
We flew in to DFW and drove to Shreveport (where these were taken). I even stopped in Marshall (where we lived at one point) to look around.
Sadly, you could shoot decay in Shreveport for weeks without exhausting the subject.

Who knew?

Who knew?

Steve,

That's amazing. My mom is in an assisted living place in Shreveport. I was born at Barksdale A.F.B. I spent a year there in H.S. I need to take the big camera to Shreveport. You missed the brick building with a "Uneeda Bisquit" sign painted high on one wall. I really need to get a photo of that. Downtown Marshall looks promising too.

Thanks for the information.

Wayne

Most of the town is still looking pretty good...it's just that all of the parts I remember growing up there have gone to heck.
I did see the biscuit building, but didn't see a good shot.

Some scans from 120 Ektar in YashicaMat 124g- not yet processed, but look pretty good as-is. I don't find it "over-the-top" as some have said.

Rick

That is quite a red! What if you just desaturate the reds a bit, then played with the curves a bit to add back in some contrast? That way you could keep the sharpness and lack of grain, but handle the color however you see fit.
