I slapped on my VGT 12mm with Gitzo tripod and set off to capture an image or two. As I walked out of the building, ZAP - the cold northern wind chilled me to the bone and I reevaluated my situation. I thought "Nino's will save the day!".
I waltzed to Nino's (nice Italian Tuscany restaurant on 58th) and entered the warm dining area to enjoy a relaxing lunch while thinking about all the images that got away today.
Lunch was prepared with a bit of extra zeal and flourish. Service was impeccable. The food was to die for.
I finished and took out my credit card only to be told by the owner that "Lunch is on me ... now take some good pictures!"
I retorted, "Is it possible that you have me mixed up with someone else"?
"You are John, aren't you", he quickly replied.
"No, I am Mike, but I will be happy to take some pictures!", thinking, Wow - to be so lucky - free lunch and pictures too!
So, I danced about the restaurant ever so quietly - just looking around. Snapped a few photos and just as I was about to leave, in walks a photographer.
The photographer introduced himself as "John from Zagat". The owner said, "I see, you are John and (glancing in my direction) YOU ARE?"
I replied, "I am Mike - you know - the photographer that you mistook for John ... I would be happy to pay for my lunch because the food was outstanding."
The owner wished me well and sent me on my way with my free lunch.
I have just posted the photos that I took and will deliver them to Nino's tomorrow on CD.

Did I earn my free lunch?

That's a hoot, I think the owner will remember you for a long time.

The only complaints I can anticipate are confusion at the wide angle, though it looks great on the interior shots (less so on the planters at the entrance), and potentially the red cast. I see you color-corrected a couple of shots (main, aquarium) to reduce that, and they come out rather pink.
In terms of capturing the interior, they look great. From the work you did, I would guess you weren't entirely satisfied that you had captured the color the way your eye saw it. If so, I would keep correcting until you found the right formula.
I work about 20 blocks south of here and haven't eaten here, but you can tell the owner that at least one viewer of the photos is quite taken with his restaurant and will definitely check it out. I must admit, one of my photographer friends (who is incidentally named John) recommended this restaurant highly during our last photo shoot! I don't think he works for Zagat though.

I took the liberty of doing a one minute PS edit, this would be how I would offer the photos. No offence, we all have different taste, I do like your sense of composition .
Which do you like? http://www.pbase.com/leicalight/tuscany_

Ok, I took the advice and reworked the color. Maybe I should have skipped the wine.
Thanks for the PS edit. I am not offended and I got a free lunch.
And lunch was indeed free with a small donation of time from me in exchange for many laughs about this incident.

Mike-
Have you shown your images to the restaurant owner?
Maybe that would be worth another meal?

Yeah, but what about poor John? If his pics aren't so good, then it seems like he's sorta @#$%ed.

Nice story, but you might want to color correct the interior pics to rid them of the IR cast.. You can use the pics on their website as reference.

Yep - do not have the darn IR filters yet
.. and the photos are HDR and I have not figured out how to correct color cast with HDR yet.
An opportunity to learn something new is wonderful and I will be experimenting with these photos till I figure it out.

What's HDR got to do with it? Just combine your exposures to one layer and correct that layer
