i have heard that used canon gear in japan is plentiful and relatively cheap.

Yeah I got response as well, says there's somebody that mailed him before me (that's you) and that you're first in line if the price is ok.
Oh well, anyway, who wants a Canon 35/2 when you can have the Sonnar 40/2.8... 🙄 (Therapeutic use of reverse thinking 😀)

I had a very bad 3.2. Have you actually used the lens+hood for picture taking?

i read that it was not their finest lens, yes.
i did use the the lens / hood combo. works really well, no vignetting that i noticed.
i'm starting to hope that deal falls through. i don't really need the f2, i just want one cause of their rep.
rumour has it that the 'seller' is working hard for the trade so the sale to me may not happen.
i'm pleased with the 2.8 and the results i get.
not like i'll be turning pro soon and in need of that absolute last drop of resolution.
i'll keep ya posted.
