interesting turn of events...

I don't recall seeing anyone in RFF mention the Albinar lenses before. For some reason, I often see them sold with Minolta, and got a couple miself that way. Do you know who made them, and what reputation they have?

The one that came with my first Minolta is an ADG 28/2.8 Macro. I'm pleased with the results I got from it, but wanted a Minolta one instead. I first got the 28/2.8 with the screw-on hood, then got the version with the clip-on hood, as that would be quicker when changing lenses. Turns out the one with the clip-on hood isn't very good. So I'm going to have to take all three out some day for a comparison shoot.

I've gotten some Albinar zooms on other cameras, and they were junk. Loose mount on one, and a loose front on the other. They don't sell very well on the auction sites, so maybe I got lucky with the prime one I have. I have no idea as to the manufacturer of the Albinar lenses.

Hmm, this thread may inspire me to dig out my mother's old SRT and take it for a spin. It has the 50/1.4, which I remember to be quite a wonderful lens.

\.

I believe Albinar was the store brand for Camera Barn. I have no clue who made them - may have been Tokina.
