It being a beautiful day here in Adelaide, S. Australia, I got up early and went for a 20 odd k.m. walk in the Mt. Lofty Ranges of course with camera in hand. Just a simple case of combining two of the things I love the most, hiking and photography. We have such a wide and varied group here on RFF who obviously share a common interest, it made me wonder, what other passions do our members have besides the obvious?. Myself, I also spend a lot of time listening to classical music (especially opera), I love having a summer vegie garden and heading "Bush" on camping weekends when the opportunity avails helps stave off insanity. So what about the rest of us out there?

My other side is Martial Arts, I'm training in CMA (Combined Martial Arts - a mix of Mue-Thai with Karate Kyokushinkai).

Bicycle touring and new places (as well as photography) do it for me. I'm sure lots of other people have worked out that a RF is the perfect camera when travelling light (on a bicycle or with a backpack).

My wife and I have ridden through ten countries over the last twelve years (during our holiday breaks) - mostly in SE Asia because it is close. It's a wonderful experience - you really get to meet the people and take photos other people don't even see.

Sailing - but I haven't been out in a long while becuase my job makes it difficult. I love to read also.

Walking (especially on the coastal paths around where I live) and music (listening to, not playing).

bicycling
weightlifting (not so much anymore, but I still get to the gym every now and then)
cigars (I used to be, at least - I still love them, but only rarely)
writing (I write one book only)
building computers (I hate USING THEM, but I love to build them for some reason)
cooking - not so much following recipes as concocting my own.

* I love walking Farah (and I'll bring a camera of course). Farah's homepage
* Travel. The last couple of years my better half and I visited Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica (2002), Thailand (2003), The Lesser Sunda Islands (2005) and Northern-India (2006). Next May we will tour the South-West USA.
* I like to make homepages of our travels (just move your mouse over the links above).
* I liked programming for the Psion palmtop computers, Alas, they stopped making them.
* Reading, for the little time that's left after all the above.

Music. I could not live without music. OK, this is exaggeration of course. But life would suck without music.
No i'm not making it. Just listening to.

Sometimes i think about it, i can't understand why some little hammers htting some little bones in my ear cause such a good feeling. It's magic.

Oh and good music goes best with base jumping. :D
(just kidding.)

Narrowboats, Model Railways, Narrowboats, Full size Railways, Naroowboats, Skiing - Oh and BTW, have I already mentioned Narrowboats. :D :D

Sunny days - I have a real interest in sitting and doing nothing when it's warm
Longboarding - Gotta love going sideways
Illustration/graphics/computing/diy - anything artistic or mechanical I'll probably spend some time on given the chance

Course, my most important interest other than photography is girls :D

EDIT: thanks mark, you reminded me I used to play guitar too. Can't believe I play so little that I forget it's one of my interests!!

Golfing, fishing, gardening, drinking a few beers with buddies! I retired the first day of June last year. I stay so busy now I don't know when I ever found the time to work for a living. Oh, I should have included surfing RFF. I do put in considerable time every day reading everyones comments about subjects. I look forward to it everyday.

Regards,
Tom Harrell

photography, taking pictures, displaying them, and collecting vintage medium format folders.

Motorcycles - BMW R1200GS (naturally, it's German), Ducati Paul Smart (not German but very retro)
Guitars - Martin (C.F. Martin was from Germany.)
Ancestry - I've traced family members back to 16th Cent. Germany! Last May I visited the town that we came from.
Travel - (You guessed it.) Germany (One of these days I will visit the Leica factory!)
Sailing - Compac 23/3 - has nothing to do with Germany

Automobiles for me. I'm interested in the Ford Motor Company in particular - the automobiles, history, the personalities, social impact, etc. I write the motorsports column for "The Universal Car", a newsletter for Ford history buffs. I am also a moderator at FordEurope.net.

I also spend my time reading and researching anything to do with Portuguese history and culture. I'm particularly interested in things dealing with my beloved city of Coimbra - its a magical place.

Any activities with my family.

Board-riding sports - I'm with you, Ash, I love riding sideways. Skateboarding (longboards, park and a little bit of slalom), snowboarding and surfing when I can get to the ocean.

Jazz - currently learning alto sax, and I played a lot of piano back in college and my early twenties.

The mountains of Colorado - I just love it here. Hiking, mountain biking, and the silence.

I occasionally teach a couple of different styles of Qigong and also Yoga meditation.
