Last week Goto-san, director of Nikon's R&D was in France and gave a short interview to a local magazine/site. Short but interesting, below is the link. It's in French but Google translate did a decent job (just remember, when you read "frame" it means "mount").

Extremely interesting (I read the article in French). He talked amazingly openly.
My reading is that a high-class compact is in the pipeline and closer than a new small all-digital mount. Would it be a fixed-lens camera? With an optical viewfinder?
