I think I agree with you... the X-Pro1s will be a camera that can make good use of the new features. However the Xtrans sensor with its extra four megapixels and lack of AA filter, and the faster AF make the X100s somewhat more attractive than the X100.

I thought the art of photography was framing, choice of content, and technique of which focusing is a very miniscule part of.

focusing is a miniscule part of photography? ok, but i dont get that at all. all 'art' necessarily encompasses 'technique' as a coequal and necessary part. painting, sculpture, poetry, film making, i honestly cannot think of an 'art' that divorces the 'artistic' element from the 'technique' element.
the reality is the 'job' of camera companies is to convince the public that these elements are in fact divorced when they are in fact inextricably linked. that is why, i believe it was sony, that recently came out with some study that said something like 90% of dslr owners did not know how to properly use their cameras. cannikon are in the business of convincing those who have no interest in photography beyond snapshots of their kids that they can nonetheless become professional artists with a bag full of expensive equipment they neither need nor understand, and they keep the customer happy with idiot proof features that indeed do divorce any semblence of technique from result, or at least perceived result by their target audience.
imo way too much time in this thread has been spent on an entirely silly subject. if one wants to complain about 'necessary' features absent from this $1300 semi pro tool, perhaps consider something actually important to the tool, like weatherproofimg, as opposed to idiot proofing.

Yes, it is. It has been rendered relatively simple by focusing aids and autofocus. It's a given in photography compared to the harder to master aspects of photography IMO.

Sorry, I just wasn't interested in the rest. Not a diss. It's just that I don't feel threatened by do everything cameras or people that use them.
