Hi all, just want to take the oppotunity to introduce myself for this is the first "logged-in" visit to this website. I have browsed through before but not having a rangefinder didn't have any reason to mingle your affairs.
Things have changed... I hope for the better. I used to only shoot MidFormat, and only 6x6 and have been doing this for years, fully satisfactory by the way. But at the last octoberfest I realized that lugging these cameras about isn't the most easiest manner to combine enjoyment of the fest and the enjoyment of photography.
Hence, I needed something smaller, this is when I got introduced to this site, actually being drawn in by bessa rangefinder cameras, I read up on them, I read up on basically anything which is relatively easy to transport, anyway cutting a long story short I didn't want an SLR with a multitude of zooms and plastic, I wanted a rangefinder, this seemed the best follow up to Hassleblad and rolleiflexes which I currently use... and now I bought a mint Leica M6 TTL, serial number 27xxxxx, so with the .58 viewfinder (I ware glasses) a silver model in absolute mint condition, technically perfect (had it checked) and I also got the new Elmar 50mm 2.8 ... I simply love Tessar design lenses, it arrived today, havent used it yet, just fumbled it for the greater part of the day, anyway tomorrow I go into the mountains and test a couple of rolls and see how the camera reacts, how the lightmeter works and how my favorite film (tri-x) gets along with it. anyway hi to all of you ....

By the the cute chappy (avatar) is my 12 month old son .... cute like his daddy 🙂

Hello and welcome to the forum which is a refuge for those of us who don't rely on autofocus and autoexposure.

I'm Tessar person, too. In fact my nome de guerre on this web site is from the old Agfa Camerawerk Tessar equivalent. I hope that you enjoy using the 50/2.8 Elmar. It's underrated by most folks.

Hello Pymm and welcome to the forum! I have the same camera (mine's a 0.72) and lens. You will love the Elmar-M 50/2.8 it is a beautiful lens! Use you new kit in good health! 🙂

Oh BTW it is "fondle" not "fumble". 😉 If you fumbled the lens that would mean you dropped it and you don't want to do that! 😱 Your English is excellent BTW! 😎

welcome, Pymm... that's all very good equipment.. Hassy, Rollei and Leica.. I've bot the Leica and Rollei covered, but haven't ventured into Hassy gear.. yet

now let's see some photos 🙂

I'll chime in and welcome you too. It sounds like the end of back problems to me with the Leica. I have messed with medium format and tripods and I guess I still do but not as often as I once did. Good choice!
