Hi,
I was looking for a camera repair forum in Google and this was one of the few I found. I hope it's okay to ask my question here as it seems that the forum may be more to do with classic-type cameras, but anyway here goes...
I bought a new LCD screen to replace the damaged one on my Sony Cybershot WX70 digital camera. After installing the screen and switching the camera back on, the colours on the display appear inverted. Black/shade is luminous red, blue is pink, pink is blue, although green and white are as they should be. Everything looks kind of psychedelic.
I thought it must be a problem with the screen, so I contacted the seller (I bought the screen on Ebay) who kindly sent me another one for free. However, after receiving and installing it, the exact same thing happens. So it seems the problem is with the camera itself, possibly with how I have reassembled it.
I wanted to ask if anyone could tell me what would make the colours appear in this way? If I knew this then I'd have some idea of how to fix it. Just to add that the camera itself works fine as I've taken a few photos and viewed them on my PC.
Thanks for any help.

I have been told that changing digital camera screen is not only plug and play but that screen has to be set for particular camera (information is from Canon certified camera technician).

Hi Vobluda, thanks for the reply. If that's the case, do you know what setting the screen involves? Is it something that requires some specific technical knowledge/equipment? I'd really like to be able to get this screen working if possible, as I can't afford to buy another one at the moment.

I am afraid that it requires camera specific service software to program the screen.

Your only option is to exchange connections until it works or consult a service manual and that will require repair tools you will not have.

Googling about a bit more, I came across this site: http://elektrotanya.com (mainly in Hungarian but with some bits in English) where I found the following Sony service manuals for my camera model:
1. http://pdfsr.com/pdf/sony-dsc-wx70-ver1.0-adjust-sm.pdf
2. http://pdfsr.com/pdf/sony-dsc-wx70-ver1.3-level-2-sm.pdf
3. http://pdfsr.com/pdf/sony-dsc-wx70-ver1.1-level-3-sm.pdf
In the first PDF it mentions about downloading some software from the "TISS" home page (anyone know what this is?) and in the second one it gives some instructions on using this software. Is this the kind of thing I would need?
Thanks again.

TISS might be some Sony intranet site - it is stated as the firmware origin in many Sony service manuals. Even has what appears to be a normal internet address (http://www.tiss.sony.co.jp), but that does not work and I never found another way to access it. You may have to be on a Sony support VPN to get there...
