seems like a slow night so here's a question for ya...
why is it that some folks sign on to the forum but choose to remain 'invisible'?
i wonder cause many still post while under the cloak so they kind of 'out' themselves.
in case you're wondering, the answer is yes, i can see you even when cloaked.
also in case you're wondering how to do it, go to the user cp and it's an option you can click on.

i see a flaw in my question...if you answer me then people will know that you are one of the invisibles...you could say you were speaking for a friend...or that if you chose to be invisible then it would be for such & such a reason...
not working, eh?

As I was going up the stair
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd stay away.

Maybe they are "cloaked" because the option was there *shrug*

I've noticed that too, members replying while showing offlline. Sometimes I'll log on and there will be (for example) 25 members online, and something like 60 "guests" It's pretty obvious that most of those guests are members who aren't logged in. When you're "cloaked" do you show up as a guest?

I played with the invisibility setting for weeks ago to see how it worked - just realized I never turned it off again. I am now 'de-cloaked'...

The other day upon the stair
I met a man who wasn't there,
He wasn't there again today
He must work for the CIA.
I'll leave the conclusions up to others.

Why would you not want others to see you logged in?
Perhaps because you have been embroiled in an argument with someone in a thread. You still wish to see the direction the argument takes but without being seen. Or perhaps you have declared that you will not contribute with your presence to a particular thread but you are still curious. Perhaps you just take pleasure from such little acts of voyerism.
And most of all because you have unlogged and forgot to log in again. As you have nothing to contribute you don't bother with logging in.
Who knows?

Interesting..
When I navigate my browser to the forum, I'm automatically logged in. I guess that's got something to do with cookies. And from what Joe said, I can still hide my presence by selecting that option in user CP.
Now if I was to deliberately log out, could Joe still see me?
I suspect most of the invisibles just ticked that box out of curiosity, then forgot about it.

The "invisibles" (said in a hushed tone). There's a certain aura about it...
