IR filter on elmar-c 90mm f4

I hope someone out there can help me with this. The 90mm f4 elmar-c takes a series 5.5 filter, and an IR filter is impossible to get in this size (well, I've failed to find one so far). Some say the lens will also take an e39, but the one I've tried won't bind properly with the lens. Anyone got any suggestions?

I don´t have an Elmar 90 but a Summicron 40. It is also a 39mm diameter but the thread differs (It is a 39mm x 0.75 thread but "normal E39 Filter are 39mm x 0.5) a normal E39 filter won´t fit total. You can screw it on but not total.

I don´t know if Heliopan offers a UV/IR cut filter. But I know you can order special filters from them. Perhaps you can get there a 5.s seies or a m39X0.75. Call them.
B+W offers UV/IR cut filters - but it is difficult to get something from there directly. They tell you you should order via your dealer.

Everyone I know who has one of those CL lenses used e39 filters, tightened just until they bind but not forced harder, and they never fell off. Don't kill me if you try it and your UV/IR falls off, but that's what everyone I know does. Since you probably won't want to take it off as long as you're using it on the M8, a tiny drop of clear nail polish on the threads would help make sure it can't easily come loose, but could always be taken off if you want to.

I have 90mm elmar-c and 40mm Summicron, I modified original 40mm lens hood with Leica Ir/cut filter and use same combination on 90mm too.
