Hey guys
Now that I've been able to shoot for a few days with my R-D1 I've started to notice the IR sensitivity.. I know some people are not bothered by it, but it annoys me quite a bit already. My understanding is that this also can cause skin tones to get a bit red? I'm finding that I get purple blacks and in some cases just a strange red-ish skin tone. Do you guys think it is really worth shooting with an IR filter, and if so, any special ones you recommend?
As a side note, I compared the Aperture raw conversion with the Photolier conversion and it seems Photolier handles the skin tones a bit better, but not enough for me to pull it into my workflow. There were other things with it as well that I found to be inferior as well, like noise handling and it doesn't seem to properly map out stuck pixels for some reason I don't really get. Then of course the side effect of the extra step using it and also the file size of having to do tiff conversions.
so that is why I'm considering the IR filter as a middle ground..
