is a 23c enough an enlarger to handle 6x10

Hi folks

I plan to start to use a plaubel veriwide. I'm very excited by the complete change from what I'm used to...
now I have a beseler 23c. The 6x9 holder is waaaayyyy to short. Well I can mill it.
the lens coverage is another issue but well, i can buy another lens.
But the enlarger...
Am I doomed? 🙂
will I need a 4x5 enlarger?

Nope. The 23c won't handle a negative of that size. You need a 4x5 enlarger if your negative is that large. You are talking centimeters or inches???

You need a 4x5 enlarger. Even a 6x9 enlarger will be too small. It is a matter of the illumination system (head) being the limiting factor here.

BTW, printing with two enlargers can be more efficient. I have a 23C III and an Omega D5. I had to by the Omega to print my 6x12 negs. I was thinking of getting rid of the 23C, but being able to work on two prints at the same time is great.

what is the actual length of the "12" in your 6x12?

Well, it is a "real" 6x12 and so it is 112mm. And I just check with a ruler, but that is also the manufacturer's specs.

Get a used Saunders/LPL 4500 enlarger. They are simple, wonderful and can't get misaligned. You can get filter modules for Color or VCCE. They don't male a 6X12cm carrier but a 6X9cm one can be re cut to a larger hole. LPL parts and accessories are now distributed by Omega. You will need a 135mm or 150mm enlarging lens. I would recommend a newerish 135mm/5.6 Rodagon.
